My Fingerprint is Not Working

Fingerprint enrollment quality is critical for reliable authentication. Poor technique leads to high false rejection rates. Follow these best practices to ensure accurate enrollment.

✅ Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Choose the Right Fingers

  • Best options: Index and middle fingers

  • Acceptable: Thumbs and ring fingers

  • Avoid: Pinkie fingers (too small for reliable capture)

Step 2: Prepare the Finger

  • ✔ Ensure the finger is dry, clean, and uncut

  • ✋ If too dry: Breathe on the finger to slightly moisten it

  • 💧 If too moist: Dry with a clean cloth or tissue

  • 🧴 Wash hands with moisturizing soap and use lotion for better ridge clarity

  • 🚫 Do NOT enroll fingers with cuts or heavy damage

Step 3: Proper Finger Placement

  • 🔍 Identify the core of the finger (where fingerprint ridges form loops or circles)

  • 📏 Align the top knuckle with the bottom edge of the scanner

  • 🟦 Place the core flat and centered on the scanner surface

  • 🧍‍♂️ Keep finger:

    • Flat on the scanner

    • Still after placing

    • Firm, but not pressed too hard (avoid blurring)
