Step 1: Add the Safe to the Link Admin Console (Before Powering It On)

  1. Visit https://link.bioconnect.cloud.

  2. Log in with your subdomain, username, and password.

  3. From the menu, select Device Management.

  4. Click the green Add Device button.

  5. Enter the 12-digit MAC address (found beneath the QR code on your Safe).

  6. Choose Safe or Key Cabinet.

  7. Provide a name and then select your authentication settings (you can change these later).

  8. Click Add Device.

Step 2: Power the Safe

Plug the power adapter into the port on the back of the Safe, and then into an outlet.

Wait for the PIN-pad light to flash light blue before continuing.

Note: If the power supply differs from your local plug, you will only require a plug adapter, not a voltage-converter. Our power supplies will work with most voltage, internationally, and will automatically switch to your local voltage (110-240VAC, 50/60Hz).

Step 3: Connect the Safe to the Internet

Which connection type should I use?

Whenever possible, we recommend hardwired connection through ethernet.

For vehicle safes, Wireless WIFI is most chosen.

Option A: Ethernet (Recommended for Building Installations)

  1. Plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the Safe. Ensure that that cable has a network connection.

  2. If using DHCP, your Safe should connect automatically. Skip to Step 4.

Note: You will still need to power the safe using the power adapter, even when using Ethernet.

Option B: Wireless WiFi or Manual Ethernet

Note: You must ensure your smartphone remains close to the device during this setup process.

  1. On your smartphone or laptop, search for WiFi networks.

  2. Connect to the network beginning with bLink_ (identified by the MAC address).

  3. The Mobile Setup Wizard should appear. If not, toggle your WiFi off/on. This may take a minute or two before the wizard appears - do not navigate away from this screen.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Choose:

    • WiFi: Select your network and enter the password.

    • Manual Ethernet: Select "No" for automatic connection and fill in the network settings manually.

The Setup Wizard will attempt to connect to the network. When it is successful, the wizard will display a ‘Successful Connection Established’ screen.

Note: If you are prompted with an Activation Screen, this simply means that your safe has not yet been added to your Link Account. You can either follow the prompts on the Mobile Setup Wizard, or see the previous section, ‘Add device to Link Admin Console’, to add your safe to the account.

Step 4: Confirm Activation

  1. Go to https://app.medixsafe.com

  2. Navigate to Device Management from the main menu.

  3. Look for your Safe. Once its status changes to Active, it's ready to use. It may take a few minutes for your safe to appear as Active - if it remains inactive, refresh your page.

  4. Ensure the toggle next to it is Enabled.

Note: After you enable the safe, the new settings will be pushed to your safe and the safe will restart.

After a few moments, the PIN-pad light should turn solid red indicating it's ready.

Mounting the Safe (Optional)

To minimize the risk of loss or damage, safes can be mounted. Mounting requirements can differ based on environment, which is why these tools are not included.

Mounting recommendations vary by environment:

Concrete Walls: Use Tapcon screws

  • 1" screws: 4 minimum

  • 1.5" screws or larger: 2 minimum

Cinder Block / Hollow Walls: Use SNAPTOGGLE Anchors with ¼” bolts

Vehicle Mounting: May require unique considerations. Contact support for help.

Troubleshooting: Light Indicators

Light Color Meaning
Red/Yellow Flashing Ready to set up
Green Solid Door is open
Red Solid Door is closed
Yellow Solid Forced open (e.g., backup power)

If the light flashes rapidly, then slowly in a specific pattern, see Appendix A for troubleshooting.

Appendix A: Troubleshooting Common Issues

Light Pattern Issue Suggested Fixes
1 Long Red Flash Local network issue Check power, DHCP lease, or local connectivity
4 Long Red Flashes Incorrect MAC address Recheck MAC, re-add Safe to Link
5 Long Red Flashes Firewall blocking connection Open outbound port 443
6 Long Red Flashes Server error Contact BioConnect Support

Required Ports: Ensure your IT team opens necessary outbound ports (e.g., 123, 443).
