Monthly Tech Tips: Remotely Authorize Access

The MedixSafe Tech Support team is excited to kick off a monthly series of usage tips for maximizing your experience with MedixSafe. In each edition, we will highlight a key feature to help you make the most of the Link platform on your MedixSafe safes.

This month, the spotlight will be on the Emergency Access Feature, also known as Remote Authorize Open.

The Remote Authorize Open feature is designed to add an extra layer of resilience to your narcotics safe, whether it’s online or offline. With this feature, the MedixSafe Link platform generates a time-based one time password (TOTP) via the web client that allows you to access your safe.

To enable Remote Authorize Access, simply follow these steps:

1. Log in as an Account or Group Administrator with the relevant permissions.
2. Navigate to the target safe in the “Device Management” menu.
3. Click on the three dots on the side and select “Remote Authorize Open.”

This will open a window that provides a simple two-step guide on remotely authenticating a safe opening. You will simply enter “*###” and a six-digit one-time key sequence as displayed on this page at the safe. Make sure to enter the six-digit PIN exactly as displayed. Once completed, your safe will swing open.

This one-time key can be used to gain access to a safe in an emergency instead of your regular credentials, regardless of whether your safe is online or offline! All transactions using this method are tracked in your Link Access Logs page, along with the name of the Administrator that generated the code to allow access.
